Since science first connected human activity with global climate change, the world has generated enough white papers to fill a sizeable landfill. Some were vast in scope. Others were extraordinary in their vision. And yet, few of the solutions they outlined ever got off the ground. Which is why the Environmental Change Institute was created — to explore the causes and consequences of global environmental change, to inform public policy, and to enlighten a new generation of leaders. Turning white papers into green solutions. And providing the wings they need to take flight.

Food Systems.

Climate change has the capability to impact the quality, quantity and costs of our food supplies. Through research, we can address these risks, developing new plant varieties, as well as more efficient crop management and food distribution systems.

Public Policy.

Through the Environmental Change Institute, we can provide the underlying science required to inform public policy and train a new generation of leaders that's better equipped to address the issues of environmental change.

Biodiversity.

As plant and animal life adapt to global change, local populations may be deprived of important crops and resources. By anticipating these changes, we can work to avoid catastrophic failures impacting these systems and the lives they support.

Carbon Footprint.

We each have one. From the food that we eat, to the technology that we use in our daily lives. Through personal choices and technological innovation, we can work to limit our impact on the environment while improving the human condition.

Resource Usage.

From the fuels we use to drive our cars and heat our homes, to the ways we collect and treat water and waste, we will need to consider both our impact on the environment, and its impact on us, as changing weather patterns threaten to destabilize dams, levees and other manmade systems.
