The Environmental Change Institute accepts research and outreach proposals from UIUC faculty and staff between November 1 and January 16 of each academic year. In order to be considered for funding, proposals must be based on the ECI area of interest, which is global environmental change research and outreach, particularly related to food systems and security, resource and energy use, public policy and economic well-being, and biodiversity and ecosystem health. Research and outreach projects focusing on the intersection of business, policy, and science will receive higher consideration.
Please review the available funding and funding requirements noted on this page. In order to receive full consideration, the applicant is asked to adhere to the special notes and selection criteria. Proposals will be evaluated on how well they address each of the criteria as outlined in the RFP announcement. Please submit the pre-proposal by January 16 as noted.
The Environmental Change Institute (ECI) was established through a gift from the Alvin H. Baum Family Fund and matched with commitments from the Colleges of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, Business and Law.
